Hajj, day by day.
From arrival through Mina, Arafah, Muzdalifah, the Jamarat and the farewell Tawaf. Built for reading on the ground.
Short lines, in order. Set your form of Hajj below and the page follows it — your scholar and your group’s schedule always take precedence over anything here.
Need help right now? Go straight to On the Ground.
This page follows your form of Hajj
Three steps below change with this. Your scholar's word outranks the page either way — if you are not certain which form you are performing, ask before the 8th, not on it.
Before the 8th — arrival
Where: Makkah
- Complete your Umrah and exit Ihram Complete your Umrah and stay in Ihram — yours continues to the end of Hajj You arrived in Ihram for Hajj and stay in it. Tawaf al-Qudum on arrival, per your guidance
- Rest. Protect your energy for the five days
- Confirm your movement schedule with your group
- Prepare your Mashair bag and organise your belongings
- Learn the layout around your hotel, and agree meeting points
8 Dhul-Hijjah — Yawm at-Tarwiyah
Where: Ihram, then Mina
- Enter Ihram for Hajj: intention and Talbiyah Already in Ihram since the Miqat — renew the Talbiyah and move with your group
- Travel to Mina on your group’s schedule
- Pray each salah in its own time — shortened, not combined
- Worship, prepare for tomorrow, and rest
This is the beginning. Tomorrow is the one that matters. Sleep when you can.
9 Dhul-Hijjah — Arafah
Where: The plain of Arafah. The heart of Hajj.
- Travel to Arafah; confirm you are inside the boundary
- Dhuhr and Asr per your group’s guidance
- Du’a until sunset. Open your list and ask for everything
- Do not leave before sunset
- After sunset, move with your group to Muzdalifah
Night of the 9th — Muzdalifah
Where: Under the open sky
- Pray according to the guidance you have learned
- Rest where you can — it is simple, and that is the lesson
- Collect small pebbles for the Jamarat as appropriate
- Depart for Mina on your group’s schedule
Keep the pebbles small. You are performing worship, not selecting ammunition.
10 Dhul-Hijjah — Yawm an-Nahr
Where: Mina, then Makkah. The busiest day of Hajj.
- Rami of Jamrat al-Aqabah — seven pebbles
- Sacrifice (hady), usually arranged by your package No hady is due for Ifrad — this step passes you by. A voluntary sacrifice is its own matter; ask your scholar
- Cut or shave the hair. Sisters: trim only
- Exit Ihram — the first release, per your guidance
- Tawaf al-Ifadah, with Sa’i where required
11–13 Dhul-Hijjah — Ayyam at-Tashriq
Where: Mina
- Each day: Rami of all three Jamarat, in order, at your group’s time
- Dhikr, du’a, worship — these days are Hajj, not the part after it
- Leaving after the 12th? Follow the timing requirements for departure
- Staying? Rami once more on the 13th, and then Mina ends
Before leaving Makkah — Tawaf al-Wada’
- For those required: the farewell Tawaf is your last act before departure
- Look at the Ka’bah knowing you are leaving. Do not rush this
- Ask Allah to accept it. And ask Him to bring you back
